Where do you Start in the Unbinding Series?...

What's your question, "why," or "how" do I share my faith?

Evangelism books presume everyone wants to do evangelism, so they tell you how to do it. Six years of national research in nine denominations has demonstrated conclusively that most people would rather get a root canal than think about evangelism!

You can tell people to "go be missional" until the cows come home. But they just won't do it until they want to.

So what's your question, "why," or "how?" If we answer the "WHY share my faith?" question, we'll start wanting to know "HOW can God use me to help people move into faith?"

"WHY" churches can become "HOW" churches if they start with Unbinding the GOSPEL, then do an all-church saturation study with Unbinding Your HEART.

"HOW" churches (or lively small groups within typical "why" churches) find a structure to support their joyful faith sharing with Unbinding Your SOUL.

Introduction or Continuation for the Unbinding the Gospel Series

Unbinding Your Soul Cover Here it is!  Unbinding Your Soul is the newest book in the Unbinding the Gospel Series by Martha Grace Reese.  It's for small groups that are ready to invite their friends into a four-week experience of Christian community, prayer and real talk about life and faith issues.

SOUL will be very helpful (and a unique contribution to available resources) for small groups or whole churches that have a "missional" mindset: healthy, outward focused churches, new church starts, and congregations that have done the preliminary, all-church saturation studies of Unbinding the Gospel and Unbinding Your Heart, as well as vibrant small groups within more typical churches.

Unbinding Your Soul contains 70 stories and quotes from people who have used the first three books in the Series.  In addition to being a practical and accessible evangelistic process for small groups, the stories and quotes in Soul will give pastors considering using any part of the Unbinding Series a research-based understanding of mainline people's trajectories toward developing and sharing their faith, and congregations' transformational shifts.

Series author Martha Grace Reese embodies the experience of a researcher, corporate attorney, congregational pastor, middle judicatory minister, and church consultant. She serves as president of GraceNet, Inc.

Along with writing all four titles in the Unbinding the Gospel Series, Reese has initiated and given primary leadership to four national Lilly Endowment projects on evangelism and congregational transformation. The Unbinding Gospel Series is grounded in two of these initiatives. The Mainline Evangelism Project studied highly effective evangelism in mainline churches across the country. It included 1,200 interviews. The new Unbinding the Gospel Project will provide coaching support to, and learn along with, 1,000 congregations as they work with the Unbinding Series.
